Yankees’ Tommy Kahnle had hand checked after slamming sunflower seed bin

New York Yankees

Even in a season that has been riddled with injuries for them, the New York Yankees still managed to find a new and creative one this week.

Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reported on Thursday that Yankees reliever Tommy Kahnle needed to have his hand checked after slamming it into the plastic sunflower seed bin in the dugout during their game against the Detroit Tigers. Manager Aaron Boone did later say though that he thinks Kahnle was OK.

The veteran Kahnle gave up two earned runs in one inning of work, which would explain his frustration. He also had been battling wrist tendinitis in recent days, and it is unclear if it was in the same hand that he slammed the bin with.

The MLB-best Yankees also had another injury scare during Thursday’s game, but that one was a little bit more of a laughing matter.
