Brian Cashman rules out Yankees’ pursuit of Bryce Harper
If there was any lingering doubt, Bryce Harper to the New York Yankees is not happening.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman shot down that talk on Monday, saying that the team was already loaded with outfielders and weren’t interested in him as a first baseman.
Asked about Bryce Harper, Brian Cashman rattled off the names of his six outfielders and said there’s no spot. Reiterated that playing Harper at first base isn’t an option for the Yankees.

Cashman confirmed that the Yankees have had discussions about Manny Machado, but Harper appears to be a non-starter. It’s not a huge shock. For all the rumors, the Yankees simply don’t have a need, and they’re not biting on his agent’s attempts to talk him up as a first baseman. He’ll be landing somewhere other than New York, though it’s not clear where.
