Yasiel Puig is expected to be recalled by the Dodgers this weekend, according to a report.
The Los Angeles Times’ Andy McCullough reported the news about Puig on Thursday, which comes three weeks after the outfielder was demoted.
Puig was batting .260 with seven home runs in 81 games with the Dodgers prior to his demotion. When he was demoted, the Dodgers hoped Puig would change his behavior and show he is more serious about improving as a player. Puig’s success in Triple-A cannot be understated as he batted .348 with four home runs in 19 games at Oklahoma City. Clearly he delivered on the playing end, though this video shows his “leadership” methods were unconventional.
There were mixed reports about whether the team was trying to trade him, but nonetheless the outfielder remains with the franchise.
The Dodgers entered play on Thursday leading the NL West by 1.5 games over the Giants. The team begins a three-game series with the San Diego Padres on Friday.
