Yunel Escobar blows off media after ejection: ‘F— that s—‘
Los Angeles Angels third baseman Yunel Escobar was ejected during his team’s loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, and he had no interest in discussing what happened after the game.
It was a very unique ejection, to say the least. Home plate umpire Tim Timmons ruled that Orioles slugger Chris Davis checked his swing on a 1-1 count in the bottom of the seventh. Escobar disagreed, and he expressed his displeasure by making a rather large drawing of home plate in the infield dirt to “help” Timmons.
Timmons didn’t find it humorous:
So, Yunel Escobar was ejected for drawing a home plate in the dirt behind third base to instruct the umpires, which, wow.

Escobar seemed surprised after getting the boot. Since he didn’t really say anything, he probably figured his immature stunt would fly over Timmons’ head or be ignored. After the game, he cursed at reporters and answered no questions.
Yunel Escobar declined to speak to reporters after today's loss. "F*** that s***," he said when asked to answer questions.

Escobar didn’t do anything close to what our favorite minor league manager does when he gets tossed (latest video here), but you can understand why Timmons felt he was being shown up. I think I got thrown out of a Little League game once for doing something similar.
