Not many players get to score 50 points in an NBA game, but Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon achieved the feat on Thursday. Despite that, he had no interest in taking home the game ball for the performance.
Gordon dropped 50 points on 17/21 shooting during Thursday’s game against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center in San Francisco, Ca., including a staggering 10/11 on threes. However, the Nuggets lost 137-131 in double overtime.
Gordon admitted he was actually offered the game ball for his performance, even though that typically goes to a player from the winning team. That was precisely why the veteran forward blew off the offer.
“They asked if I wanted the game ball. No, I don’t want to take an L home with me. No thank you. It sucks,” Gordon said.

Obviously, Gordon will remember the game, in which he did the majority of his damage in the first half. Steph Curry took over late, however, and scored 42 points in a victory for his team.
Gordon’s 50 points and 10 threes are both career-highs. Unfortunately for him, he won’t necessarily remember either of them very fondly.
