Report reveals why Adrian Wojnarowski abruptly retired
A new report has offered some details on why ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski abruptly retired on Wednesday in order to take on a new job.
Wojnarowski announced he was quitting his ESPN job in order to become the general manager of the men’s basketball program at St. Bonaventure in a shocking move. For Wojnarowski, however, this had seemingly been coming. According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, Wojnarowski admitted to his bosses at ESPN that he is “completely burned out” from the constant NBA news cycle, and was not looking forward to the prospect of getting three hours of sleep per night for the upcoming NBA season as he kept up with and reported the latest breaking news.
Wojnarowski also told bosses that he felt he could have gone one more season if he absolutely had to, but that the St. Bonaventure job was far more appealing to him at this point.
The NBA insider, who has become synonymous with breaking news, made the stunning career announcement on Wednesday. He suggested the time and demanding schedule was the primary reason for his decision to step back from the role.
