The Answer is officially on the road to self-improvement.

Retired basketball legend Allen Iverson appeared this week for an interview on “CBS Mornings.” During the interview, Iverson shared some notable personal news — that he is now six months sober.

“One of my best decisions that I ever made in my life was to stop drinking,” said Iverson. “It’s [been] six months now. [I feel] better than I did when I was doing it.

“When you get drunk, you’re not how you usually are,” Iverson added. “The more and more I see it with other people, the more and more it make me happy about the decision. The more and more I see how the people around me appreciate it, I love it.”

The interview came as part of a promotional tour for Iverson’s new memoir “Misunderstood,” which released this week. You can watch his interview in full here.

Iverson, now 50 years old, played in the NBA from 1996-2010, making 11 All-Star teams and winning NBA MVP in 2001. He remains one of the most iconic basketball players of all-time (particularly because of his fearlessness and his scoring prowess at just 6-foot) and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016.

But Iverson, who announced his retirement in 2013 after playing a season overseas in Turkey, has also battled some personal demons ever since he called it quits. His supposed drinking problem was even reportedly causing Iverson some problems with his family at one point. Now Iverson is taking his sobriety seriously and has managed to be six months clean and counting.
