Andre Iguodala could return to Warriors this summer?
While much has been made of Andre Iguodala’s immediate NBA future, his future after this season could pose the more interesting proposition.
The Athletic’s Anthony Slater reported this week that Iguodala and the Golden State Warriors share mutual interest in a reunion this summer. Slater adds that the former Finals MVP still lives in the Bay Area and remains deeply connected to those in the organization who matter.
The 35-year-old Iguodala, who spent the last six seasons with the Warriors and played an instrumental role in bringing them three championships, would have to wait until the summer regardless. After trading him to the Memphis Grizzlies last offseason in a salary-saving move, the Warriors are barred from reacquiring him this season. Iguodala, meanwhile, has yet to play in a single game for Memphis and figures to be traded before the February deadline.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr recently discussed how painful Iguodala’s exit was, so a return home for the veteran would obviously be a most welcome outcome.
