Andrew Wiggins says Timberwolves have ‘some s—-y fans’ after getting booed

Andrew Wiggins definitely did not appreciate the reception that he got from the hometown fans on Friday night.

The Minnesota Timberwolves swingman had a rough night during a 123-120 loss in overtime to the lowly Atlanta Hawks. While Wiggins finished with 16 points, he shot 5-for-14 from the field and a dismal 5-for-12 from the free throw line. After missing two crucial foul shots in the fourth quarter, the former No. 1 overall pick heard boos from the Target Center crowd.

After the game, Wiggins reacted to the booing.

“That’s fans for you,” he said, per Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “We’ve got some s—y fans and we’ve got some good fans. That’s just how it works.”

The 23-year-old Wiggins has stagnated in his fifth NBA season, averaging 16.6 points per game on a career-worst 40.2 percent from the floor. He has also faced questions about his motor and overall effort, particularly on defense.

Wiggins was at the forefront of the Jimmy Butler drama earlier in the season, but even with Butler now in Philadelphia, the problems are still lingering.
