Anthony Davis cost himself money without even playing on Wednesday night.
Davis was caught on video flipping the bird to a fan after a New Orleans Pelicans home loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.
The NBA announced a day later that Davis has been fined $15,000 for the act.
Davis contended in direct messages he traded on Instagram that he was provoked.
Pelicans reporter Andrew Lopez says Davis was told f— you by the fan.

Talked to a few people about this. As AD indicated in his DM on Instagram, he was provoked before giving a fan the finger. NBA security is aware of the situation. Something along the lines of "F*** you, AD!" was yelled and AD responded.

Whether Davis felt justified in his actions or not, the NBA still doesn’t like seeing that and let him know about it. Davis has not played since March 24 due to back spasms. He has been limited to no more than 22 minutes per game since the All-Star break.
