Anthony Morrow wears Drazen Petrovic tribute jersey (Picture)

Nets shooting guard Anthony Morrow paid tribute to Drazen Petrovic by wearing the late NBA player’s jersey at the Three-Point Contest Saturday.

Morrow said he had the move planned for a while. “I instantly thought, ‘If I get chosen, I’m going to wear his jersey,'” Morrow said this weekend.

He added, “It was something I always thought about in the back of my mind. I didn’t make it last year, and this year, I did, so I said I would take advantage of it if I had the opportunity.”

Petrovic was a third-round pick by the Trail Blazers in 1986 but he didn’t make his NBA debut until 1989. Buried on the bench in Portland, Petrovic’s career didn’t take off until he was traded to the Nets in 1991. He averaged over 20 points per game in two full seasons with the Nets before being tragically killed in a car crash in 1993.

The jersey tribute was an awesome gesture by Morrow. He showed a great understanding of the history of the game and he showed tremendous respect to Petrovic, who was recognized as one of the best in league history.
