Blake Griffin taunted by ‘flopper’ chants from Memphis crowd (Video)
Blake Griffin heard it from Memphis Grizzlies fans after he went to the free throw line in the fourth quarter of the Clippers’ 94-82 Game 3 loss to the Grizzlies on Thursday night.
Griffin got the ball at the top of the circle with just under five minutes left in the game and the Clippers down 83-71. He was backing down Zach Randolph when Quincy Pondexter came over to provide some help defense. Pondexter reached in for a steal, knocked the ball loose, but Griffin flopped to the ground as he lost the ball. Randolph was called for the foul.
As Griffin was at the line with 4:46 left, the fans began booing. Then an arena-wide “flopper” chant broke out before his second free throw.
Griffin made both foul shots, but his team still lost.
A minute later Griffin complained that Randolph held one of his arms to prevent him from corralling a rebound, leading to the ball going out of bounds off him. Here was his face:
Griffin has been called out for years for being a flopper, so this is nothing new. And it looks like he’s not about to change any time soon.
