The Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers teamed up to deliver fans one of the most horrific sequences of NBA basketball all year.
The Bulls led the Blazers 26-20 in the first quarter of Friday’s game at the United Center in Chicago, Ill. Blazers swingman Shaedon Sharpe started the putrid stretch with an airball that appeared to miss the rim by an entire foot.
Bulls guard Josh Giddey corralled the rebound and fired a terrific outlet pass to a streaking Kevin Huerter. Instead of finishing off the highlight play, Huerter missed the dunk and sent the ball flying into the air.

Blazers guard Dalano Banton then got his layup pinned to the backboard. Giddey may have thought they were playing H.O.R.S.E. because the exact same thing happened to him on the other end. Banton ended the stretch of subpar play by throwing a botched lob to Sharpe.

Both the Blazers and Bulls have somewhat overachieved this season given the dearth of talent on their respective rosters.
Chicago won Friday’s contest 118-113, raising its record to 35-42. The Bulls are also locked in for a play-in tournament appearance.
Portland’s record fell to a respectable 34-44. While that won’t be enough to make the postseason in a crowded Western Conference, they’ve done more with less on a roster without a single 20-points-per-game scorer.
But for one gloriously lousy stretch, the two teams stunk it up like they were the worst squads in the NBA.
