Bronny James is offering his first public reaction this week to the news of his father’s big move.
The Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny was with his teammates this week at Luka Doncic’s offseason minicamp in Slovenia. At one point during the week, Bronny stopped to sign some autographs for fans who were waiting outside of the facility.
One fan asked Bronny about his dad LeBron’s move to the Philadelphia 76ers. Bronny issued a five-word reaction in response.
“It’s whatever,” said Bronny. “It’s my dad.”

The 21-year-old Bronny clearly wants to emphasize that he is a completely separate entity from his father. Bronny may have a hard time convincing fans to think the same though, especially since he was drafted by the Lakers in 2024 to play with LeBron and sparked widespread allegations of nepotism in the process.
In his second NBA season last year, Bronny averaged 2.9 points and 1.2 assists per game over 42 total appearances for the Lakers. The organization continues to support Bronny however (with some interesting reported plans for him in 2026-27), so this will be Bronny’s opportunity to prove that he belongs in the league independent of his 22-time All-Star father LeBron.
