Report: Cavaliers’ deal for George Hill stalled over buyout issue

The Cleveland Cavaliers appeared close to a deal for Sacramento Kings guard George Hill, but things have stalled over a disagreement over the player’s future.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said on ESPN Radio recently that Hill balked at accepting a preliminary buyout for next season if LeBron James were to leave the Cavaliers this offseason.

Windhorst said that a deal was close enough to being consummated that players were being informed that the trade could be imminent, but Hill is unwilling to give up any of the $19 million he would be owed next season, even if James left Cleveland.

What this means is that the Hill trade may not go through, and Cleveland may have to look elsewhere to get roster help. They’ve reportedly looked into one big name, but their efforts to upgrade their roster are proving easier said than done.
