Report: Cavs will not remove LeBron’s likeness from Quicken Loans Arena

LeBron James

LeBron James’ iconic billboard in Cleveland may be no more, but his likeness will still be prominently featured elsewhere in the city.

Dave McMenamin and Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN reported on Sunday that James’ image will not be removed from Quicken Loans Arena, citing a Cavs team source. The arena, known colloquially as “The Q,” is undergoing a $140 million renovation this summer, and when it reopens in the fall, The King will still be included where the team recognizes its history and its legends.

Despite James’ decision to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, he is unquestionably the greatest player in Cavaliers history and brought the city of Cleveland their first professional sports championship in over 50 years.

The team has also been remarkably graceful in the way that they have handled his exit, perhaps partly to express their gratitude and partly to keep the door open in case James ever wants to come back to retire in a Cavs uniform.
