Celtics legend calls 2008 team’s feud ‘immature and petty’

Boston Celtics

Robert Parish has some young whippersnappers that he wants to give a piece of his mind to.

Appearing this week on SiriusXM NBA Radio, the retired Boston Celtics great sounded off on the 2008 championship team’s well-documented feud.

“I know this is a family show, I get all that. But that’s effed up, that’s what that is,” said the Hall of Famer Parish. “Think about this, those guys went to war together, battled together, and won that very elusive championship, how difficult that is in itself. And now they gonna let infighting come between a special team that was able to achieve excellence? And now they gonna let the infighting just destroy all that? I think that is very immature and petty.”

That ’08 title team was back in the news again this week with feud linchpin Ray Allen stating in an interview that he wasn’t expecting congratulations from his ex-Celtics teammates on his impending Hall of Fame induction.

As for Parish, now 65, he was a member of three championship teams in his 14 seasons with the Celtics, so he probably knows what he’s talking about here.
