Chet Holmgren carried off the court with concerning injury
Chet Holmgren had to be assisted off the court after taking a nasty spill during Sunday’s game against the Golden State Warriors at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Oklahoma City Thunder big man tried to contest an Andrew Wiggins drive midway through the first quarter. Wiggins rammed into Holmgren, who landed hard on the court. Holmgren was left writhing in pain while grabbing at what appeared to be his right hip.

After receiving some assistance from medical personnel, Holmgren was carried to the locker room by a couple of his Thunder teammates. Holmgren eased fans’ worries just a little bit with a thumbs up to the crowd as he left the floor. The Gonzaga alum, however, was unable to put any weight on his right side.
Concern here in OKc: Chet Holmgren took a shot to the side while defending an Andrew Wiggins first quarter layup. Just needed help getting to the locker room. Wasn’t putting weight on right leg. Appeared to be grabbing hip/oblique area when he was on the ground. pic.twitter.com/ZGF3mCwqmG

Holmgren was ruled out of the game at halftime. He ended his night scoreless with four rebounds.
The Thunder are already shorthanded at the center spot with offseason addition Isaiah Hartenstein nursing a left hand injury. If Holmgren needs to miss any significant time, OKC may have to resort to small-ball lineups for the foreseeable future.
Holmgren is in the midst of a breakout season. The second-year pro has averaged 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks through nine games.
