Paul Pierce is apparently having some money problems right now.
The retired Basketball Hall of Famer Pierce said in a court filing this week that he is “drowning financially” and struggling to keep up with court-ordered child support payments to ex-wife Princess Santiago. TMZ Sports reports that Pierce, in court documents, claimed that his average monthly income has dropped down from $119,000 to $0 after the recent loss of his gig with FOX Sports.
Pierce further claimed that he only earned $23,000 last month via his other business ventures and said that he had just $300,000 in the bank and $3 million in property. Additionally, Pierce, who earned over $195 million in NBA career salary, gave a breakdown of his purported monthly expenses:
- $28,000 child support
- $20,000 spousal support
- $8,000 childcare
- $7,000 eating out
- $5,000 groceries
- $3,500 entertainment
- $3,200 utilities
- $1,000 clothes
TMZ Sports adds that Pierce’s filing came in response to Santiago’s request for $40,000 in legal fees and another $10,000 for a forensic accountant to review Pierce’s finances. Pierce had already reportedly been ordered to pay Santiago $8,508 per month in temporary child support for their son King as well as $100,000 in prior legal fees.
Santiago had initially filed a paternity lawsuit against Pierce earlier this year (read the full details here). It has been a troubled last several months for the 10-time All-Star Pierce, who is now 49 years old. In addition to his alleged financial problems, Pierce also got arrested for DUI in Oct. 2025 after being found asleep at the wheel of his car.
