Trading Blake Griffin to Detroit on Monday may only be the beginning of the rebuilding process for the Los Angeles Clippers.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who first reported news of the Griffin-to-Detroit trade, says that the Clippers aren’t stopping there. He reports that the team will also look to trade DeAndre Jordan and Lou Williams.
The Clippers also trading Jordan and Williams would make complete sense within the context of a franchise rebuild.
Jordan has a player option for next season and can choose to become a free agent after this season if he wants. Williams is under contract for $7 million this season and is set to become a free agent. He has been a total steal for the Clippers, giving them nearly All-Star levels of production.
This could be the second year in a row that Williams gets traded, as he was dealt to Houston last February.
The Clippers could get more bites on Jordan if he agrees to opt into the next year of his contract, which would give teams more incentive to trade assets for him.
