D’Angelo Russell reportedly apologized to Lakers, not Nick Young
D’Angelo Russell has apologized to his Los Angeles Lakers teammates for the distraction he created, but he apparently has not yet had a chance to speak with Nick Young.
Russell has publicly expressed regret over the video, which shows Young talking about cheating on his fiancee Iggy Azalea, going viral. He also privately spoke to the team, though Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reports that Young was not present.
A source told Medina that Young chose not to be there when Russell addressed the team and that the veteran “has not accepted any apology” from the rookie. Russell said he would not blame Young if Young didn’t forgive him. Young said he will handle the situation behind closed doors.
“I don’t want to get into my personal life right now,” Young told reporters. “I think it’s best me and D’Angelo handle the situation we have in a private manner outside of the media. I think it’s something we do need to sit down and talk about. That’s about it. What happened is what happened. We have to work on it.”
If you have not seen the video that outed Young, you can watch it here.
While a previous report indicated that Young accepted Russell’s apology, a tweet Swaggy P sent on Wednesday hinted the two have not smoothed things over. Young is supposedly trying to save his relationship now, so chatting with Russell might not be his first priority.
