Danny Green: Spurs have been in contact with Kawhi Leonard all along
San Antonio Spurs swingman Danny Green is pushing back against reports that Kawhi Leonard has been distant from teammates during his injury rehab.
According to Green, the Spurs have known all along that Leonard wanted to return.
Interesting comments by Danny Green at #Spurs practice. Said team has been in contact with Kawhi Leonard throughout and knew he would try to come back. This would go against some reports of Leonard being entirely distant, disconnected from team #KSATsports #KSATsports #GoSpursGo pic.twitter.com/DLeIHgqZLE

“We’re teammates, we’re still family, end of the day,” Green said. “We still keep in touch via text. What’s going on, how’s everything going? Rehabbing here, rehabbing there. Feeling good. He said he’ll be back so we knew he was going to be back at some point eventually playing-wise, not just being around.”
There may well be some distance between Leonard and the Spurs’ coaching staff, but it doesn’t sound like those issues ever extended to his teammates. They’ll be hoping to see him within a month or so.
