Danny Green says Spurs players are not at odds with Kawhi Leonard
Danny Green is shedding some light on the bizarre Kawhi Leonard situation.
Appearing Tuesday on FOX Sports’ “In the Zone” with Chris Broussard, the San Antonio Spurs swingman discussed his longtime wing partner and the continued injury absence that seems to have everyone baffled.
“The one person who knows is Kawhi Leonard,” said Green, according to News 4 San Antonio’s Michael Rehome. “He had a set-back. He had a couple of set-backs. He’s still in pain.
“We all text him. We’re in touch with him. He’s still a very much part of this group, this team. We still have his back,” the veteran added about Leonard. “From the team’s perspective, there is no one that is at odds with him.”
Leonard, who hasn’t played since Jan. 13 due to his ailing right quad, recently returned to New York to rehab the injury and still has no return timetable.
A players-only meeting last month where the Spurs supposedly implored Leonard to return fueled speculation that the team was at odds with him over his absence, but that no longer seems to be the case. Still, you have to wonder if some of Green’s other teammates agree with his assessment of things.
