David West announces retirement after 15 NBA seasons
David West proved that he is still capable of being a valuable bench player when he played a reserve role on two championship teams with the Golden State Warriors, but the big man has decided he has accomplished enough in his NBA career.
On Thursday, West released a statement on social media announcing he has decided to retire.

West, 38, averaged 6.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game with Golden State last year. His best seasons were with the New Orleans Pelicans, when he had a much bigger role and averaged around 20.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
West was a free agent, and it’s possible the Warriors did not express interest in bringing him back. Still, there’s no better way to end your career than with back-to-back NBA titles.
