The San Antonio Spurs are set to get a huge boost in the backcourt in the very near future.

Fox is reportedly scheduled to make his season debut on Saturday in a home game against the New Orleans Pelicans. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the All-Star guard has been ramping up his workouts in preparation for the weekend matchup.

The Spurs have played their first eight games of the season without Fox, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury sustained during the offseason. His return comes just as No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper suffered a calf injury that is expected to sideline him for “multiple weeks.”

San Antonio acquired Fox last year in a midseason trade with the Sacramento Kings. He played just 17 games for the Spurs before going down with a season-ending finger injury.

Fox’s injury last season may have been a blessing in disguise, as San Antonio went on a downward spiral to close out the 2024-25 season. With Fox sidelined, the Spurs went 3-9 down the stretch to improve their lottery odds and eventually won the second-overall pick used on Harper.

The Spurs went on an unprecedented 5-0 start to this season, a feat never achieved during the Tim Duncan era. Fox’s return gives San Antonio another dynamic backcourt weapon to play off early MVP contender Victor Wembanyama.
