Dearica Hamby is sounding off this week after receiving a racist text message.
The Los Angeles Sparks star Hamby was ejected from Saturday’s 77-68 win over the Connecticut Sun. In the fourth quarter at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Calif., Hamby got physical with Sun forward Raegan Beers, swinging her arm back and catching Beers in the jaw area.
Hamby was ultimately issued a flagrant 2 foul on the play and ejected from the game. Here is the video.

In a post to X on Monday, Hamby revealed that she received a racist message from a fan, who somehow managed to get her cell phone number. “Dirty a– n—-r,” the message read. “They should put you in a zoo. Animal” (profanity edited by LBS). The message also included a monkey emoji.
“Anyone know this number?” wrote Hamby in her post (with the fan’s phone number entirely visible). You can see the post at the link here.
Hamby, 32, is a three-time WNBA All-Star and one-time WNBA champion who has been in the league since 2015. This season for the Sparks, Hamby is averaging 14.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Hamby is not the only WNBA player to receive such treatment this season. Just last month, Las Vegas Aces star Chelsea Gray also spoke out on a racist message that she received after a game against the Indiana Fever.
