Report: Dennis Schroder’s play frustrated some within Lakers
Dennis Schroder’s future in Los Angeles is on very shaky ground right now. Apparently some people on the Lakers may not be too sad to see him leave.
Ramona Shelburne of ESPN reported this week that Schroder’s play on the court frustrated some within the Lakers organization this year. Shelburne also notes that the Lakers included him in trade talks with the Toronto Raptors for Kyle Lowry at the deadline.
In his first season with the Lakers, Schroder made 67 total starts between the regular season and the playoffs. While Schroder was the third-leading scorer behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis, his shooting stats for the year (40.0 percent from the field and 30.8 percent from three) were pretty ugly. Schroder also ranked 59th among qualified guards this season in assist-to-turnover ratio (per NBA.com).
The 27-year-old Schroder is now set to become an unrestricted free agent. Between this report and how one Lakers legend recently trashed him, Schroder really seems to have worn out his welcome in LA.
