Dirk Nowitzki has funny response to being called defensive liability
Dallas Mavericks big man Dirk Nowitzki continues to stay golden as he moves into the golden years of his NBA career.
On Thursday, a Twitter user called Nowitzki’s attention to a less-than-flattering evaluation of his defensive skills in a recent player profile written by ESPN’s Kevin Pelton.
I wonder what @swish41 has to say about @kpelton's player profile about him. pic.twitter.com/XeNbUuJWJT

The mention caught the eye of the 13-time All-Star, who decided to play along with the analogy in hilarious fashion.
It used to be quick sand. Now it's full on dry cement…. https://t.co/QoG4yHjvET

Even in his younger years, the 38-year-old Nowitzki was never really the fleetest of foot defensively. But he always managed to stay afloat on that end by playing angles and positioning and by using his active hands to help blow up possessions. While that is becoming increasingly difficult with age, to the point that Pelton’s assessment rings true, this is all yet another reminder that Nowitzki, who has been known to enjoy self-deprecating humor, will always be one of the best personalities in the Association.
