Doc Rivers rips referees after loss to Rockets
Doc Rivers was critical of the referees after his Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Houston Rockets on Thursday night.
The Rockets beat the Clippers 101-96, and one of Rivers’ big gripes had to do with the difference in free throws. Houston attempted 23 free throws, compared to just eight for the Clippers. That’s what he brought up after the game.
Doc Rivers rips the officials. They shot 41 3s; we shot 18. We doubled them in the amount of points in the paint and it was 24-8 in free throws. That's a joke. That is a complete joke. Our guys drove and got hit all game. Lou got killed and no call. Austin gets hit and no call."

Rivers also pointed out that the Rockets played more on the perimeter as they attempted 41 3-pointers compared to 18 for the Clippers.
With the playoffs on the horizon, there is extra pressure on every contest. The Clippers are competing with several teams for the final five playoff spots, with only 2.5 games separating seven teams. That fact no doubt adds to Rivers’ frustration following a critical loss.
