Donte DiVincenzo happy about being traded away from Knicks?
Donte DiVincenzo is one of the players who has been included in the New York Knicks’ massive trade that was reported on Friday. One report suggests he might be happy about the deal.
The Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday agreed to a trade that sends Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks for Julius Randle and DiVincenzo, among others.
According to a report from SNY’s Ian Begley, DiVincenzo was not happy with his projected role with the Knicks.
DiVincenzo was projected to come off the bench for the Knicks following the team’s acquisition of Mikal Bridges earlier this offseason. Begley says DiVincenzo was not thrilled about coming off the bench especially given how successful he was last season.
Last season, his first with the Knicks, DiVincenzo played in 81 games and started 63 of them. He averaged 15.5 points on 44.3 percent shooting, and he made an average of 3.5 three-pointers per game. It was a true breakout season for the 27-year-old guard. It’s understandable why DiVincenzo might not have wanted to have his growth stunted after such a great season.
