Draymond Green has unusual criticism of Thunder
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is very impressed with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but he thinks there is one thing they need to do if they are serious about winning an NBA title.
In the latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” Green said the Thunder have not demonstrated that they are serious about winning, and pointed to their group postgame interviews as evidence. Thunder players are fond of gathering together for on-court postgame interviews as a group, a practice which gained attention nationally during their playoff run last season. In Green’s mind, that sort of thing has to stop, because it will not intimidate potential rivals.
“The one thing I see with the OKC team that is a little alarming for me is their postgame. Seven guys in the interview,” Green said. “There’s a certain seriousness that it takes to win in this league, and there’s a certain fear you have to instill in a team in order to win. You should have fun, but you have to understand, their moment is now. Their moment started last year. You go out, you have that great regular season, your clock starts now.”

Green is essentially suggesting that the Thunder aren’t scaring off potential opponents and need to grow up a bit in order to do that. It is not a take that holds up to much scrutiny, nor does it make a lot of sense. Steph Curry is one of the more jovial players in the sport, but opponents still fear him because of what he can do to them with his shooting.
The reality is that Green will say just about anything about anyone if they aren’t on his team. Fans enjoy what the Thunder do, and it certainly is not holding them back as a basketball team. If anything, it shows just how tightly knit they are as a unit. Their 4-0 start to the season is further evidence of that.
