Draymond Green calls Kevin Durant the NBA’s most underrated trash talker

Warriors forward Draymond Green has often been known to run his mouth like a junkyard dog on caffeine. So when Green opens up about trash talk in the NBA, he probably knows what he’s talking about.

In an appearance on ESPN Radio’s The Freddie Coleman Show on Thursday, the Michigan State product called Oklahoma City forward Kevin Durant one of the most underrated trash talkers in the Association.

“You know who I always thought (was a great trash-talker), but has been under the radar, I think Kevin Durant,” said Green per Anthony Slater of NewsOK. “Lotta people don’t know that. But if you play against him you know.”

“KD makes you feel bad about yourself, that you ever talked junk,” Green continued. “It’s the funniest thing in the world…Me and KD have had our battles over the course of my three years in the league. But when he end up with 53 (points), it ain’t much you could say back at that point.”

Green’s point seems valid considering that the former MVP always torches the Warriors like an Olympic ceremony whenever they play the Thunder. Green actually even sold Durant a bit short as his career-high of 54 points (you were one off, Dray) came against Golden State in January 2014. More recently, the Slim Reaper scored 30 points in one half at Oracle Arena last season before getting hurt. Durant’s infamous “menacing gesture” also came in a game against the Warriors in 2013.

History also supports Green’s assertions. Durant has had some classic trash talk moments over the years with everyone from Chris Bosh and Dwight Howard to Chris Paul and Royce White.

The six-time All-Star has certainly carried that confidence into this offseason, and if that foot is fully healthy, the entire league is doing to know that KD is back, whether it’s through his own trash-talking or when he starts dropping 40-point games on your head faster than you can say “Durantula.”
