Dwight Howard revealed in a social media post on Wednesday that his dog has died, and the former NBA star is asking for help in figuring out exactly how it happened.
Howard shared several photos and videos of his dog, who was named Sunday, in an Instagram post on Wednesday. The 39-year-old said he is “devastated” and that the dog was hit by a car on June 18. Howard suggested the driver of the car fled the scene.
“I’m devastated because you were the dog that never left my side, the dog that stuck to my hip at all times, and the one time you wander off without me being there someone takes you away from me. Who could be so heartless to do this to such an innocent girl with no remorse,” Howard wrote.
Howard said he is in search of answers regarding the dog’s death.
“Please if anyone has any information regarding a Belgian Malinois that was hit by a car on June 18th, 2025 in Suwanee Georgia please let me know,” Howard added.
Howard, an eight-time NBA All-Star, currently plays for the LA Riot in Ice Cube’s BIG3 league. He got into a fight with a fellow former NBA player and was ejected from his debut earlier this month.
Howard has not played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season. He recently played in Taiwan and has continued to pitch his services to teams in hopes of getting another shot in the NBA.
