Fans think that a security guard got a nice grab on Sophie Cunningham’s behind during one of the skirmishes in Tuesday night’s Indiana Fever-Connecticut Sun game.
The Fever beat the Sun 88-71 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., to improve to 6-5. Multiple players were called for technical fouls for getting too rowdy during the game, and the Sun’s Jacy Sheldon was even called for a flagrant foul.
Sick of all the attacks on teammate Caitlin Clark, Cunningham decided to retaliate in the final minute. She took down Sheldon, who was moving in transition. Players had to be separated after that contact, and some security members tried their best to de-escalate the matter.
One video that circulated showed a security guard at work. Some people used a little too much zoom to suggest that the guard was getting a little handsy.

We can’t see the full picture in that video, so we don’t know what was happening to the guard. Maybe he was getting pushed around, which caused his hand to move. But the childish folks think he was trying to take advantage of a moment. To us, it just looked like he was doing a good job making sure the situation didn’t get further out of hand.
Cunningham is in her first season with the Fever. She is averaging 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in 22.3 minutes per game this season. She is also doing a good job sticking up for her teammate and serving as Clark’s enforcer.
