Kris Wilkes will have to wait a little longer to begin his NBA career.
Marc Berman of the New York Post reported on Friday that the former UCLA star’s contract has been voided by the New York Knicks. Wilkes had a verbal agreement for a two-way deal, but that is now voided due to health reasons.
The 20-year-old Wilkes, a two-year star at UCLA who averaged 15.5 points per game for his college career, did not participate in summer league with what the Knicks called an illness. Berman also adds that Wilkes is not considered healthy enough for training camp later this month but that the Knicks remain interested in him for later in the season.
After a year in which the team finished an NBA-worst 17-65, it has been somewhat of an unlucky offseason for even their new additions as well.
