Jalen Hurts was not in his top form on Sunday, resulting in a 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card Round at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. on Sunday.
Hurts passed for just 168 yards and a touchdown on 20-of-35 pass completions. While he had some moments against the 49ers, he ultimately did not do enough to carry his team to the next round.
After the 23-19 loss to San Francisco at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa., Eagles running back Saquon Barkley reflected on Hurts’ 2025 campaign.
Nevertheless, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley had nothing but great words to say about Hurts following the contest.
“I think he did a great job,” Barkley said when asked by Ashlyn Sullivan of NBC Sports Philadelphia how he would grade Hurts’ 2025 campaign.
Barkley gave Hurts more props for the way the quarterback handled himself behind the scenes.
“I think the things you guys can’t see, I think he’s always been a great leader, but I feel like just the way he’s interacting with the guys this year, he did an amazing job with that, and I know people get caught up in QB stats and wins and losses. I don’t agree with that,” added the three-time Pro Bowler.
The 27-year-old Hurts did not earn a Pro Bowl nod for the 2025 season, but he threw for over 3,200 yards for the third time in his career, while passing for a career-high 25 touchdowns against only six interceptions on a 64.8% pass completion rate.
At the end of the day, Barkley, Hurts and the Eagles fell short in their mission to have a Super Bowl parade in the City of Brotherly Love for the second year in a row.
Barkley burned rubber for 106 rushing yards against the 49ers, but it took 26 carries and he didn’t find the end zone.
