After going back to the drawing board on their coaching search, the Los Angeles Lakers may have a new frontrunner.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski and Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN, former Indiana and Orlando coach Frank Vogel made a “strong impression” on the Lakers in his interview, and the two sides are expected to speak again.

Vogel led the Pacers to two Eastern Conference Finals and one 50-win season, followed by two poor years in Orlando. He’s 304-291 overall as a head coach.
Vogel’s likelihood of landing the job may well depend on how willing he is to take some orders from above. After all, Tyronn Lue also impressed during his interview, but that courtship fell apart over financial and personnel demands.
