Ty Lue’s candidacy as the next Los Angeles Lakers head coach seems to be going well.
Lue has interviewed twice with the Lakers for their vacancy and seems to be a finalist, along with Monty Williams.
On Friday, The Athletic’s Shams Charania said on Stadium that Lue “struck a very emotional chord” in his interview with the Lakers’ leadership.

This jibes with what the LA Times’ Broderick Turner reported on Friday. He said that Lue left a lasting impression during his interview on Wednesday.
Lue has previous experience coaching LeBron James in Cleveland. The two won a championship together in 2016, which is the season when Lue took over for David Blatt midway through the year.
Though he is a candidate for the job, some Lakers executives reportedly have fears about the repercussions of giving Lue the job.
The Lakers are looking for a replacement for Luke Walton, who was let go after his third season on the job.
