Fred VanVleet trolls Bleacher Report after Finals win
Fred VanVleet has certainly had to work his way through some roadblocks to become an NBA champion, but he wants to set the record straight.
VanVleet responded after a Bleacher Report tweet outlined his story, taking offense to two particular parts of the summary. In the since-deleted tweet, the website said VanVleet wasn’t ranked coming out of high school and only received two scholarship offers.
I thought I was top 100 in high school and definitely had more than two offers but cool story tho https://t.co/2fwTW8qrui

VanVleet was a top 150 recruit coming out of high school, and some publications had him in the top 100. He also had at least seven scholarship offers, including one from Wichita State. In other words, yes, VanVleet was an underdog story, but he wants credit where it’s due.
VanVleet definitely had a memorable final, and he put himself on the line to win it. Toronto would not have won without him. He’s probably earned the right to correct the record.
