Gordon Hayward to undergo surgery Wednesday night
Gordon Hayward will undergo surgery on Wednesday night, after which the Boston Celtics will have a better idea of how much time he might miss.
Hayward suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle during the first six minutes of his Celtics debut Tuesday night after colliding with two Cavaliers players while going up for an alley-oop. He was carted away and taken to a hospital to be treated.
Boston was hesitant to give a recovery timetable for their big free agent signing, but they should have a better idea after the surgery.
Hayward was a major addition for the Celtics this offseason and the prize of the free agent class. He was expected to help the Celtics push the Cavaliers for the Eastern Conference championship this season.
The 27-year-old has received nothing but well wishes from his colleagues after suffering the gruesome injury.
