Gregg Popovich was tough on Doris Burke again in Game 2 (Video)
The Miami Heat were trailing by six points with about five minutes remaining in the third quarter of Game 2 on Sunday night. At that point, LeBron James took control and scored eight straight points. He ended up with 14 in the third quarter alone, and ESPN’s Doris Burke was lucky enough to get to interview Gregg Popovich after LeBron’s explosion.
As you might expect, Pop seemed a little salty. When Burke asked him what the Spurs’ plan is to contain LeBron, Popovich let out an evil laugh.
“Are you serious?” he asked. “We’re gonna keep him from scoring.”
Burke then followed up by asking Pop what he would like to see in the fourth quarter.
“Ah, I’d like to see LeBron play poorly,” he said sarcastically.
James went on to score another eight points in the third quarter and lead his team to a crucial win with a game-high 35. A couple weeks ago, Burke admitted that Pop almost had her in tears when he used only one word in an interview with her during last year’s playoffs. Hopefully she’s just learned to take it in stride by now.
