Grizzlies reportedly ‘focused on’ Ja Morant with No. 2 pick
Zion Williamson is as sure of a thing as it gets to go first overall in the NBA Draft next month, but there has been some question over whether Ja Morant or RJ Barrett will be taken at No. 2. As of now, it seems like Morant will be the pick.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Morant has met with all three top teams — the New Orleans Pelicans, Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks — in the draft, and the Grizzlies are “focused” on making Morant their pick.
Murray State PG Ja Morant met Wednesday with the top three teams in next month’s NBA Draft — New Orleans, Memphis and New York, league sources tell ESPN. Grizzlies are focused on Morant at No. 2.

Morant was not heavily recruited coming out of high school, which is why he ended up at Murray State. He had a successful freshman season but emerged as a full-blown superstar as a sophomore last year, averaging 24.5 points, 10.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
While he’s easily considered the best point guard in the country, Morant recently said his physical tools aren’t even his best asset. A lot can change in a month, but it would be a surprise if Williamson, Morant and Barrett did not come off the board in that order.
