Ja Morant touts his high basketball IQ as his best asset
What does Ja Morant think is his best asset as a player? His high basketball IQ.
Morant is expected to be one of the top picks in the upcoming June NBA draft. He was present in Chicago on Tuesday night for the draft lottery and was interviewed by ESPN during their coverage. Morant was asked what the most important skill for a player in the NBA is, and he gave a thoughtful answer.
“High IQ. Just being able to make reads and all. I feel like my IQ is very high; probably the best part of my game — being able to see plays before they happen,” Morant said.
Morant was lightly recruited coming out of high school and ended up at Murray State. The point guard had a successful freshman season but truly emerged last year as a sophomore. He averaged 24.5 points, 10.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game last season. The assists led the nation, as did his turnovers mark. One team already is said to have its eye on him.
