Ja Morant’s comeback was short-lived.
The Memphis Grizzlies announced on Monday that Morant will miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.
Morant suffered a subluxation of his right shoulder during Saturday’s training session. An MRI revealed that Morant has a torn labrum. He will undergo season-ending surgery now so that he can be ready for next season.

Morant had played in just 9 games for Memphis after returning from a 25-game suspension to begin the season. He averaged 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game over those nine contests.
Memphis went 6-3 in Morant’s nine games and were a completely different team with him in the lineup. But Memphis is 13-23 overall on the season. Since they are 10 games under .500, they probably figure it’s more worthwhile for Morant to undergo surgery now so that he can be ready for a fresh start next season.
Injuries and suspensions will have made this a lost season for Morant and the Grizzlies.
