Hawks rookie John Collins throws down must-watch dunk at Summer League

Atlanta is excited about rookie John Collins, whom the Hawks drafted No. 19 overall. Collins is a big man, and he played in the post during his two years at Wake Forest, but he has the athleticism to play with wings.

That athleticism was fully on display Wednesday afternoon at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Collins took a pass from the top of the key, charged to the basket, and posterized New Orleans’ Cheick Diallo and Keith Benson.

Have a look at the monster flush below:

Talk about having springs for legs. The Hawks lost, 105-95, but Collins was a bright spot. He scored 25 points, shot 11-for-15 (!) from the field and snatched nine rebounds. Last year for the Demon Deacons, Collins averaged 19.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. He was named first team All-ACC.

Though Collins fell out of the lottery, some analysts are speculating he can be an immediate-impact guy for the Hawks.

Not to get carried away following one dunk, but … can we please have Collins in the 2018 Dunk Contest?
