Report: Heat trade Mario Chalmers to Grizzlies
Mario Chalmers’s time in Miami is reportedly over, as he’s off to the Memphis Grizzlies in a cost-cutting move.
Yahoo Sports’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Chalmers is headed to the Grizzlies along with James Ennis.
Yahoo Sources: Miami is finalizing deal to send guard Mario Chalmers and James Ennis to Memphis for Beno Udrih and Jarnell Stokes.

As Wojnarowski notes, Chalmers is in the final year of his contract, does not fit into the team’s future plans, and moving him saves them $6 million in luxury tax payments.
Chalmers won two NBA titles in Miami, and he also has some history with Memphis – at least the college basketball variety. He was instrumental in sinking the Memphis Tigers with his late three-pointer for Kansas in the 2008 title game, sending the game to overtime and paving the way for a Jayhawks victory. Now he gets to play for Memphis’s NBA team.
