Andre Iguodala has threatened to sit out the remainder of the year if the Memphis Grizzlies don’t trade him or buy out his contract, and the situation now has us on the verge of a full-blown social media war between Iguodala’s current and former teammates.
Iguodala was traded to Memphis from the Golden State Warriors over the summer in a salary dump move, and he has refused to play for his new team. Memphis players were asked about that following Monday night’s win over the Detroit Pistons, and Dillon Brooks said he hopes the Grizzlies trades Iguodala so they can beat the veteran. Ja Morant seemed to agree, as he tweeted a speaking emoji on top of the quote.

Enter Stephen Curry, who won three championships with Iguodala when Iguodala was with the Warriors. In response to Iguodala being ripped by Grizzlies players, Curry defended his former teammate by sharing a photo on social media of Iggy holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Morant fired back on Tuesday with a photo of Durant holding the NBA Finals MVP trophy.

Morant then appeared to back down. After Warriors fans descended upon the rookie, he was quick to point out how big of a Curry fan he is.

You can understand why Grizzlies players are frustrated with Iguodala. The 36-year-old has basically told them they are not good enough for him, and he’s going to great lengths to force his way out of Memphis. Iguodala may be in luck with at least one contending team interested in trading for him, but Memphis players have every right to fell ill will toward him.
