Ja Morant has a good chance of being traded before Thursday’s deadline, and one team may be emerging as a likely landing spot.
The Sacramento Kings are most strongly connected to Morant in trade rumors, according to Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports. The Kings view Morant as a potential star player who simply needs a change of scenery.

Even more attractive for the Kings is the fact that Morant will apparently not cost much to acquire. Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reported that the Memphis Grizzlies’ asking price has “dropped significantly” and that the guard could be acquired at a discount.

If we do end up seeing Memphis’ former All-Star point guard dealt over the next 27 hours, a team like Sacramento or Miami is going to do so at a low cost. I’ve been told not to discount Milwaukee… https://t.co/3P1XwYRejt
The Grizzlies appear eager to move on from Morant, who no longer fits their timetable to contend. It does not help that the guard appears to have checked out in Memphis, and may well welcome a move.
The biggest issue may simply be that Morant is not putting up the same numbers he used to. The 26-year-old is averaging 19.5 points and 8.1 assists per game, and the scoring totals are the lowest he has posted since his second NBA season. He remains a good player, but has not performed like a franchise anchor for the Grizzlies this season.
