Jae Crowder calls Kevin Durant signing with Warriors ‘slap in the face’

Jae-Crowder

In a move that sent shockwaves throughout the NBA, Kevin Durant is now a member of the Warriors after signing with the team as a free agent earlier this month. As a result, a member of one of the teams Durant met with lashed out at the star’s decision.

Among the teams Durant met with prior to choosing Golden State were the Celtics. Boston threw everything they had at the seven-time all-star, including having Tom Brady appear at their pitch meeting. However, it wasn’t meant to be for the Celtics, and that isn’t sitting well with Jae Crowder.

The Celtics forward recently expressed his thoughts on the subject and didn’t hold back. He revealed what went down in the meeting and called it a “slap in the face” Durant turned them down.

“We were the only team in the NBA to beat both Cleveland and Golden State on their home court, the only team in the NBA, the Boston Celtics,” Crowder told Mass Live. “We told him that. We played him clips from both games and told him basically the scouting report of how we guarded Steph and Klay, our entire game plan, basically.

“I was talking to Isaiah, like maybe after you sit back, you shouldn’t have told him everything,” Crowder continued. “But who the (expletive) thought he was going to Golden State, realistically? It was like a slap in the face for us, basically.”

After landing Al Horford, there were many who felt the Celtics were in the driver’s seat to secure Durant’s services, especially since it was reported the Thunder were going to try to clear enough cap space to pair Durant and Horford.

It’s understandable for members of the Celtics organization to be disappointed. Crowder let it all out, though. He also called the Warriors the villain of the league, which he may be right about. We’ll have to wait and see if they end up being as hated as the Heat teams with Wade, James, and Bosh.

Markieff Morris has criticized Durant’s decision to join the Warriors. Commissioner Adam Silver has called it not ideal. Now we can add Jae Crowder to the list of those who would have preferred a different outcome.
