Jahlil Okafor fight victim says he needed 10 stitches, threatens lawsuit
One of the men that Jahlil Okafor allegedly punched outside a nightclub in Boston last week is threatening to sue the Philadelphia 76ers rookie.
The alleged victim, who is choosing to remain anonymous, is a 27-year-old executive assistant who lives in Boston. His attorney, Michelle Newton, told TMZ on Wednesday that Okafor knocked her client out cold and left a gash above his eye that needed 10 stitches. Newton claims the victim is certain Okafor punched him and said a lawsuit could be filed.
“We’re always interested in resolving any matter prior to ligation,” Newton said “Should we be unable to reach an agreement [with Jahlil], civil litigation is the only available option.”
Newton says her client has experienced “pain and embarrassment” in addition to physical injuries. The alleged victim says he was in no way heckling Okafor before the fight and that Jahlil only became angry when the women the victim was with rejected the No. 3 overall draft pick.
After the incident with Okafor was reported last week, a video surfaced showing him violently shoving one person and punching another. And on Wednesday, a second video showed the 19-year-old going after more people and throwing more swings. We’d be surprised if Okafor didn’t face some sort of consequence.
